Recent Club happenings...

Glen Afton Heritage Railway

West of Huntly, 12km from Highway 1, you will find Pukemiro Junction, the home of The Bush Tramway Club. The Club has been operating for 60 years collecting and restoring locomotives, carriages and equipment which were once vital to the coal and timber industry. The restoration work is carried out by enthusiasts young and old and the Club operates the Glen Afton Line thanks to the voluntary labour of their members and the financial assistance of sponsors. Open Days are held on the first Sunday of the month. Forty-three of our members had a wonderful experience there recently, riding one of the historic locos and learning about the fascinating collection on display. Highly recommended. www.bushtramwayclub.com

Probus Month - October

The 2025 Probus Month theme of "Reinvent your retirement" resonates with so many members who have made new friendships and found a sense of belonging within the Probus family. It is a time to celebrate what Probus is all about.

Walkers Long Bay

The Walkers and Talkers enjoyed a brisk walk in August on the beach at Long Bay, followed by morning tea at November cafe.

Why join Probus?

Joining Probus opens the door to new experiences and friendships and provides many great opportunities for meeting new people, sharing interests and broadening horizons, whether this be through participating in the wide variety of outings and activities which the Club organises, or listening to wonderful guest speakers. We may be regarded as the 'older generation' but the energy and enthusiasm which is alive and well in our Club belies this description!

Membership

While Probus clubs may be formed/sponsored only by a Rotary Club, past involvement with Rotary is not a prerequisite for Probus membership! In fact, many of our members have previously belonged to other service organisations. Anyone who is retired or semi-retired is eligible to join; the majority of Probus members belong to the Gold Card fraternity.

20th Aniiversary

20th Anniversary - April 2023 Foundation Members

Our history

On 10 April 2003 our Probus Club was formed at Sunnynook under the auspices of Milford Rotary. The initial 76 founding membership quickly grew to over 100 and today our membership stands at 135.

Our Club turned 20 in 2023 and it was great so see several of our foundation members at this celebration, including our first President, Bev Jones, who did the honours of cutting the 20th Anniversary cake alongside Warwick Smith, 2003 President of Milford Rotary Club.
